For institutions

Getting started with Swapsac.

Swapsac gives your students a platform to exchange real objects and services locally - and gives you aggregated, anonymised data on their behaviour. No surveys, no self-reporting. Real exchanges, verified by both parties.

Your dashboard shows what your cohort actually does: exchanges completed, CO₂ avoided, repair rate, monthly trends. Ready to export for accreditation reports, grant applications, or faculty meetings.

Setting up

Three steps.

1

Create your account

Go to swapsac.com/register and choose Institution as your account type. You'll need your institution's official name, website, and a contact email. Your account is created immediately.

2

Confirm your email

Check your inbox and click the verification link. This activates your login.

3

Wait for official verification

Our team reviews your institution within 48 hours and emails you when approved. This unlocks your invite code and full dashboard access.

Your invite code

Once verified, your dashboard generates a unique invite code for your cohort.

The invite code is how students connect to your institution on Swapsac. When a student enters your code in their Settings → Institution Program, they appear in your dashboard metrics. You see their aggregate behaviour - they keep full control of their personal account.

How to share it

Paste it into your course syllabus, your LMS welcome message, or your first session email. Students enter it once and are linked automatically.

Privacy threshold

Your dashboard data only appears once 3 or more students have enrolled. This protects individual privacy.

Your dashboard - what you see

Once students are enrolled and active, your dashboard shows:

Enrolled students

How many students have joined using your invite code and are active on the platform.

Exchanges completed

Total number of verified exchanges across your cohort. Both parties confirm each exchange.

CO₂ avoided

Aggregate kilograms of CO₂ saved through exchanges, lending and repair instead of new purchases.

Items in circulation

Objects currently listed or actively exchanged by your students.

Exchange mode breakdown

How your students exchange: Give, Sell, Lend or Repair - with percentages. A high repair rate tells a different story than a high sell rate.

Student locations

Which countries your cohort is active in. For international programmes, this shows local action at global scale.

Monthly activity

12-month trend of exchanges. Correlate spikes with your course calendar.

Top categories

What your students are exchanging most: clothing, electronics, books, tools, food.

Surveys

Questions you've sent to your cohort, with response rates and results.

Invite your team

You can give colleagues access to your dashboard without sharing your login. From your dashboard, generate a staff invite link and share it. Each colleague creates their own account and accepts the invite.

You control what each person can do:

  • View dashboard data
  • Create surveys
  • Export reports
  • Manage other staff members

Staff access can be revoked at any time.

Export your report

At any point, click Export / Print Report from your dashboard. Your full dashboard is captured as a PDF - ready for your accreditation portfolio, grant report, or faculty meeting.
