For students

Welcome to Swapsac.

You're joining through your institution. This page tells you what Swapsac is, how to get started, and what your institution can and cannot see.

What is Swapsac?

Swapsac is a local sharing platform. You exchange real objects and services with people near you - give away things you no longer need, borrow what you do, offer a skill, find help with something.

No ads. No data selling. Just people helping each other locally.

Your institution joined Swapsac because they believe the circular economy is best learned by doing - not by reading about it or filling in surveys. What you do on Swapsac is yours. Your institution sees only the big picture across the whole cohort.

Joining your institution's programme

Three steps. Takes about two minutes.

1

Create your account

Go to swapsac.com/register and choose Citizen as your account type. Enter your personal details and your city - Swapsac works locally, so your location matters.

2

Confirm your email

Click the verification link in your inbox. This activates your account.

3

Enter your invite code

Go to Settings → Institution Program and enter the invite code your institution shared with you. You're linked to your cohort immediately - your professor can see aggregate activity across all students, but never your individual data.

What you can do on Swapsac

📦

Give, lend or sell objects

That textbook you finished, the bicycle you no longer ride, the lamp sitting in a corner. List it and someone nearby will find it.

🤝

Offer your skills

Teach a language, help someone move, repair a bike, walk a dog. Your time and skills are valuable to someone near you.

🔍

Find what you need

Browse listings and services near you. Message someone directly, no middleman.

📅

Join or create local events

Repair cafés, swap parties, community clean-ups. Find what's happening near you - or organise something yourself.

🌱

Track your impact

Every completed exchange shows you CO₂ avoided and your contribution to the local circular economy.

Your privacy

Your institution sees only aggregated, anonymised data across the whole cohort - never your individual exchanges, messages or personal details. Your Swapsac account is yours, not your institution's.

You can leave the institution programme at any time in Settings → Institution Program without deleting your account.

FAQ

What if there's nothing near me yet?

Swapsac is new and communities are growing. If nothing exists near you yet, be the first - post a listing or offer a service. Every community starts with one person.
